Blueprint
Rater was planned as an easy tool with a minimalistic design. It have to be useful, self-explanatory and engaging. Users should be able to rate any kind of experience in seconds, and they have to be hooked enough to return and do it again.
flexible solution
One of the challenges was to keep interface simple and yet flexible. To achieve it I’ve used dropdown menus with pre-selected “most popular option”. User, of course, can add a custom choice. The most used choices will in time replace default options.
social involvement
Community helps to increase customers’ engagement and gives them an opportunity for an experience exchange and for a feeling of belonging. Initially, all lists are private. However, they can be shared with friends via messengers or published in the community.
cross-reference
One of the use-cases can be as following: user is going to a restaurant and ordering food. Here is the challenge: how can users rate both food they tried and the restaurant? There are many workarounds — for example: groups could be added and users can group all related experiences. It would, however, complicate the system and add unnecessary infrastructure levels. Better option is to provide a possibility to link any rating to an additional list, which will allow them to appear in search results together.
Mobile solution
Based on the results of the conducted interviews, users prefer to give a rating right away and therefore this service has responsive layout with an increased focus on the mobile experience.
Landing page
Landing page gives an overview of the main features and provides an inspiration for the future ratings. Community section allows visitors to have a sneak peek at the tool before the registration.
