Communication
One of the main issues was lack of Feedback. Users wouldn't even know, if
button that they've just pressed worked. Also they weren't notified,
if they were mentioned in the comments, or if a guide that they've
created was endorsed.
Two kinds of feedback were introduced:
A: Instant feedback as a response to interactions of the Users with the system.
B: Notifications that update Users, if they or their previous activities have been mentioned by the others.

Dashboard
Dashboard was very bland, uniform and thus – confusing. Test
participants were getting lost among same-looking categories
that didn't have a clear hierarchy. The confusion led to the
lack of motivation to use dashboard, and as the result, users
were missing important company updates.
After introducing different card formats, and improving the hierarchy on the page, out metrics have shown a boost of the engagement.
User profile
The user profile did not motivate users to learn more or give them clear instructions on what they could do next to earn extra points.
The new version of the overview showed the user's past achievements, presented a competition table and suggested possible steps forward.
Gamification: Awards
Writeaguide is a learning platform with a gamification in its
core. In the current state users could only gather points and
receive awards. The only statistics they get is an overview of
their points collection.
To add more clarity and interaction, the endless list of awards was
hidden, while award statistics was added. It provided a compact
overview of user's achievements and clearly
defined the next milestones. Intoduction of progress history allowed users to see, how
fast did they move between levels.
Gamification: Competition table
In the old version, there wasn't any competition at all,
it was just an overview of all available levels. The new design involves the user's colleagues in the process. Users can now see where their teammates are and where they stand in the company-wide competition!
Nobody should ever underestimate one's wish to be better than everybody else 🤓
